Coach Nancy McDaniel (since 1994) came to Cal to start the women’s golf program after five years of professional experience on the Women’s European, Ladies Asian and Players West golf tours.

University of California shot 304-300-296 to claim 12th of 18 in the 2019 NCAA D-1 Auburn Regional at Saugahatchee Country Club in Opelika, Ala. Vanderbilt, tied for third after two rounds, shot a 4-under 860 win the regional by three strokes over Florida State. The six teams advancing to nationals from Auburn were Vanderbilt, Florida State, Duke, Virginia, Auburn and Tennessee. Weather was fine at the par 72, 6,371-yard course, where the average 18-hole score was 75.2 strokes. Players carded 47 sub-par scores over three days.

The Bears' low scorer was Elena Arias Quiros, who tied for 28th (75-74-72=221).

California improved its scores each round and placed ninth in the 2019 Pac-12 Championship at Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. USC broke par in the first and third rounds and shot a 54-hole score of 1-under 851 to beat runner-up Arizona by 11 strokes. Rounding out the top five were Arizona State in third, Stanford fourth and Washington fifth. Weather conditions were windy at the par 71, 6,131-yard course, where the average 18-hole score was 74.7 strokes.

Cindy Oh tied for 30th (79-72-74=225) and Amina Wolf tied for 36th (76-75-75=226) to lead the Bears.

California finished 12th in the 2018 NCAA D-1 San Francisco Regional, and 10th in the Pac-12 tournament.

The Bears tied for 14th at the 2017 NCAA Championship, tied for fifth in the NCAA D-I Albuquerque Regional, and 10th in the Pac-12 Championship.

California finished seventh in the NCAA D-I Shoal Creek Regional, and ninth in the Pac-12 tournament.

Cal competed but didn't make the 54-hole cut at the 2015 NCAA Championship, placed sixth in the NCAA D-I St. George Regional, and 10th in the Pacific-12 Conference Championship.

California finished 22nd of 24 teams in the 2014 NCAA Championship, fourth in the NCAA D-1 Central Regional, and seventh in the Pac-12 Championship.

California claimed 18th in the 2013 NCAA D-I West Regional, and 10th in the Pac-12 tournament.

California tied for ninth and just missed a nationals berth at the 2012 NCAA D1 West Regional, and won the Pacific-12 Conference Championship. The Bears finished 12th in the 2011 NCAA Championship, fifth in the NCAA East Regional, and fourth in the Pac-10 Championship.

California missed qualifying for the 2010 NCAA finals by finishing 11th at the NCAA Division I West Regional, and took sixth at the Pac-10 tournament.

The Golden Bears finished fourth at 2004 NCAA Finals and fifth in both 2005 and 2006. Cal’s Sarah Huarte won the 2004 NCAA individual title.

McDaniel was named the 2001 Pac-10 Coach of the Year, 2002 West Regional Coach of the Year and National Coach of the Year in 2003. She competed at University of Washington, was honored with one All-America and two Pac-10 All-Star team selections and graduated with a degree (speech communications) in 1988.

Practice Facilities: In 2007 the Golden Bears opened their new state-of-the-art short-game practice facility. It is two and one-half acres with greens and bunkers located 15 minutes from campus at Metropolitan Golf Links.
