Mitch Wilson was named Kalamazoo coach in April 2012. He is a low-handicap amateur who has competed in national and international events. Wilson played for Central Michigan University. He has qualified for the U.S. Senior Amateur four times since 2013 and was named 2018 Golf Association Michigan Senior Player of the Year.
The men’s Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) golf teams play a fall round-robin series of tournaments to determine the four teams that compete in the Spring Qualifier to determine the MIAA Champion and the NCAA D-III tournament qualifier.
Kalamazoo College finished fourth in the 2018-19 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's series of five fall tournaments. Kalamazoo's total 1800 was one shot behind Trine at 1799. Winner Hope totalled 1718, and Calvin was runner-up at 1770. The tournament averages were Hope (286.3), Calvin (295.0), Trine (299.8) and Kalamazoo (300.0).
Hope's Josh Gibson was the fall medalist with a six-round score of 414 for an average of 69.0 per 18 holes. Kalamozoo's Nick Ludka (70.8) was second. Other low scoring averages for Kalamazoo were Travis Veenhuis (76.0), Jackson Jones (76.2) and Parker Pickell (77.0).
The top four teams from the fall 2018-19 MIAA season (Hope, Calvin, Trine and Kalamazoo) advanced to the 54-hole 2019 MIAA Spring Qualifier to determine the berth to the 2019 NCAA D-III Championship.
