Former Western Washington Viking Luke Bennett was named men's golf coach in May 2013.  Bennett had been serving as WWU assistant women's coach. He earned multiple D-II All-American honors competing for the Viks from 2002-06.

The Western Washington Vikings rallied with a closing 282 (-6) to win by six shots in the 2019 Bay Area Invitational at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, Calif. The Viks were followed by Sonoma State, Concordia (OR), Cal State East Bay and University of California at San Diego. The 14-team field posted a 75.6 stroke scoring average on the 6,845-yard, par-72 course.

Jordan Lee (75-70-69=214) and Michael Butler (74-71-71=216) finished in the top five for the Viks.

WWU failed to shoot a team score under 300 and placed 20th in the 20-team 2018 NCAA D-II SoCentral/West Regional at La Paloma Golf Club in Amarillo, Tex. St. Mary's (TX) won by four strokes over second-round leader California Baptist, Holy Names finished third and Colorado-Colorado Springs was fourth. Colorado Christian and Sonoma State tied for fifth, and CCU won a playoff for the last spot to advance to the D-II Championship. The 108-player field recorded a 74.9 stroke scoring average in warm, windy conditions on the 6,805-yard, par-71 course. There were 43 sub-par rounds posted over 54 holes.

The Viks were led by Brody Bonfilio (76-71-75=222), who tied for 37th.

Defending champion Western Washington made a run at leader Simon Fraser but came up short in the 2018 Great Northwest Conference (GNAC) Championship at Coeur d'Alene Resort in Coeur d'Alene, ID.  SFU opened with 276 (-8) and won by nine strokes over the Vikings, Concordia (OR) was third and Northwest Nazarene fourth. The scoring average was 74.4 on the 6,803-yard, par-71 course.

WWU's Ethan Casto (67-75-67=209) claimed the inividual title in a playoff over Craig Titterington of Simon Fraser, and Brody Bonfilio (78-67-69=214) rallied for third.

Western Washington placed 15th in the 20-team 2017 NCAA D-II Championship. The Vikings shot 17-under par for three rounds and tied for third at the 20-team 2017 NCAA D-II South Central/West Regional. They edged Concordia (OR) by one stroke for the 2017 GNAC Championship.

The Vikings placed 18th of 20 in the 2016 NCAA D-II SouthCentral/West Regional after winning the 2016 GNAC title.

WWU placed 19th at the 20-team 2015 NCAA D-II SouthCentral/West Regional. The Vikings placed a distant second to Simon Fraser at the 2015 GNAC Championship.

The WWU Vikings finished 10th at the 20-team 2014 NCAA D-II South Central/West Regional. They finished fourth in the 2014 GNAC Championship.

Western Washington tied for seventh in the 54-hole stroke play part of the 2013 NCAA D-II Championship. The Viks defeated Florida Southern in the first-round then lost to Lynn in the semi-final of medal-match play.

The Viks finished second in the 2013 NCAA D-II SouthCentral/West after winning the 2013 GNAC title.

Western Washington placed ninth  at the 2012 NCAA D-II Championship.

The Viks placed sixth in 2011 and fourth in 2012 at the NCAA D-II Central/West Regional.  

WWU finished eighth at the 2008 NCAA D-II National Championship.
