Bobby Cornett returned as head coach in 2009 after serving as assistant coach for 10 seasons. He was previously Rams' head coach (1985-99) but stepped down in 1999 to concentrate on the PGA Senior (Champions) Tour. Cornett led Texas Wesleyan to three national NAIA titles (1990, 1995 and 1999) earning NAIA National Coach of the Year honors with each championship. Cornett was a 1972 NAIA All-American competing for the Rams.
In the final event of the shortened spring 2020 season, Texas Wesleyan shot a wind-blown 306-298-325 and placed second in the San Antonio Shoot-Out at TPC San Antonio in San Antonio, Tex. Wayland Baptist recorded a +29 893 total to win by 36 strokes over the Rams. Morningside, Houston-Victoria and Truett-McConnell filled out the top five in the 15-team tournament. The course was par 72, measuring 6,701 yards and with a tough set-up plus wind, produced an average 18-hole score of 82.0 strokes. Winds were so strong during the third round that the scoring average jumped to 84.9 strokes.
The Rams' Tyron Davidowitz (73-71-78=222) tied for first and Victor Miron (74-76-80=230) claimed 10th.
Texas Wesleyan won its first national title since 1999, capturing the 2019 NAIA Championship. The Rams ended Oklahoma City's four-year title run, winning the 2019 Sooner Athletic Conference Championship.
Texas Wesleyan finished third at the 2018 NAIA Championship, and third in the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship. TWU placed third in the 2017 NAIA Championship, and third in the Sooner AC.
The Rams placed fourth in the 2016 NAIA Championship, and second in the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship. Texas Wesleyan placed sixth in the 2015 NAIA Championship, and second in the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship.
Texas Wesleyan tied for sixth in the weather-shortened 2014 NAIA Championship, and third in the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship. The Rams finished second in the 2013 NAIA Championship, and third in the Red River Conference Championship.
Texas Wesleyan placed sixth in the 2012 NAIA Championship, and won the Red River Athletic Conference Championship, TWU finished ninth in the 2011 NAIA Championship, and won the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Championship. In 2010, it was seventh at the NAIA Championship, and won the Red River/Midlands Conference Championship.
Six-time champion Texas Wesleyan just missed winning a seventh national title at the 2009 NAIA Championship, finishing second to Oklahoma Christian.
TWU finished 10th at the 2008 NAIA National Championship.
Texas Wesleyan made the 54-hole cut right on the number and finished the 2007 NAIA National Championship in 18th place.
