Aaron Ford was named head golf coach in August 2018. He previously was at his alma mater, Northwestern Oklahoma State, where he had served as the women's golf coach since 2015, and became the men's head coach as well as director of golf for the 2017-18 season.
Concordia University of Texas shot a disastrous first-round 307, but the Tornados rallied to finish fourth at the 2018 NCAA D-III Championship at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC. Perennial power Methodist took control with a third-round 282 (-6) and cruised to an 11-stroke win. Washington & Lee took second by a single shot over Texas-Tyler in third, and Guilford was fifth.
The low scorers for Concordia were Logan Young (72-69-73-71=285), who tied for first but lost a playoff to Brian Peccie or Wasington & Lee, Seger Howell (79-69-73-75=297) in 37th, Ryan McGinley (78-77-71-71=297) in 37th and Clayton King (78-71-78-74=301) in 54th. Three of the four rounds were played on the 7,150-yard, par-72 Grandover East Course where the 42-team, 217-player field posted a 77.1 scoring average.
Concordia improved its team score each round, almost catching winner Texas-Tyler at the 2018 American Southwest Conference Championship at Avery Ranch Golf Club in Austin, Tex. Tyler edged the Tornados by four strokes for the title, UT-Dallas placed third, Hardin-Simmons claimed fourth and LeTourneau was fifth. The eight-team field recorded a 77.8 stroke scoring average on the par-72, 7,023-yard course.
Concordia's Ryan McGinley (68-77-71=216) took second, Seger Howell (81-70-69=220) finished sixth and Logan Young (76-73-72=221) was shot back in seventh.
