Andrew Larkin was named head coach in May 2020. He served the previous five years as assistant coach at UCLA. Larkin competed at Occidental and was Oxy head coach for three years. He competed professionally after graduation. Larkin was a four-time All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletics Conference selection and two-time (2011 and 2012) All-America Scholar while at Occidental.
In the last tournament of the shortened spring 2020 season, Santa Clara University improved its team score each round (298-295-282) but settled for 12th place despite a closing 6-under 282 in the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic at San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif. Winner Tennessee fired a final-round 8-under 280 to keep the Vols four shots better than co-runners-up Arizona State and San Diego State. Texas A&M and California filled out the top five in the 19-team event. The course was par 72, measured 7,033 yards and produced an average 18-hole score of 73.9 strokes. Players recorded 80 sub-par rounds over 54 holes.
Matthew McCarty (75-72-69=216) tied for 21st to pace the Broncos. Berk Harvey (73-7670=219) and Jack Avrit (75-75-69=219) tied for 34th.

Santa Clara broke par in two of three rounds and finished fifth at the 2019 West Coast Conference Championship.
Santa Clara placed 11th in the 2018 NCAA D-1 Raleigh Regional, and tied for third in the WCC Championship.
Santa Clara tied for fourth in the 2017 West Coast Conference Championship, tied for sixth in 2016, ninth in 2015, second in 2014, eighth in the 2012 and 2013, fifth in 2011, third in 2010 and fifth in 2009.
